Bhai bhai!

Is this for real? Don't they look like twins, or is everyone else just missing it?

In case you're wondering who Agarkar's twin is, it's Amerasinghe, and the similarity doesn't end at the flappable ears and similar bowling styles. Amerasinghe's economy rate recently and overall leaves one questioning the unbelievable behavioral similarities as well. Wonder if they'll meet in a mela at some tournament some day and discover they're wearing complementary lockets and yell "Bhai...".

Reactions:
Sure, Mr Hayden. 'Monkey' is racist. But calling someone an 'obnoxious weed' is great. Not insulting. Not personal at all. Especially, when we all know, Monkeyman is the provocateur in every case. The Oz cricket team is trying desperately to regain their mental advantage. Just didn't think Matthew Hayden would sink to such low comments of a personal nature. These stunts are just not required, if you can't win by playing cricket, that's when you'd resort to this sort of trickery.
Before pointing fingers at others, Hayden would have done well look at the weeds growing out of Andrew Symonds' hair. Or wait, maybe that would have been racist.

Mes prévisions - Part 2!
Reactions:
Ok, so maybe the victory margin wasn't entirely accurate, but you must give me credit for predicting the result at a time when Australia was going down, down, down. Oh well...

Airtel and Nokia co-branding TV ad
Reactions:
Wow, these guys have outdone themselves. The new Airtel and Nokia TV commerical starts with a hand-on-heart, solemn prelude and ends with an anti-climactic SRK giving us a plastic smile and saying "Airtel and Nokia". Another atrocity on the senses. We know you guys want to use SRK's synergistic brand ambassadorship to advertise your new co-branding effort, but please stop raping our senses and come up with something that doesn't make us want to break our slow Nokia phones with bad Airtel network connectivity.
Maybe a Wish karo, Dish karo, barrier todo, people ko connect karo, aur i10 mein Youthistan chalo. Hmm, thoda zyada ho gaya. :)

Aussie former cricketers' idea of 'fun'
Reactions:
Read this.
Now tell me something. Is tennis a boring sport because no one calls each other names? Is Roger Federer boring? Or Sachin Tendulkar for that matter? Won't they have any stories to tell? Doesn't their play have 'color'? Why are these old fogies confusing sport with gimmicks?
I totally agree with Langer's argument here. Gamesmanship is acceptable and maybe even necessary. Getting personal with someone isn't. It's not accepted in other sports, or any other sphere of life for that matter, except maybe politics. I would think that this is the precise reason politics and sport are at opposite ends of a newspaper. By bringing foul language to sport, are we enriching it? The whole world hears these 'idols' abuse and insult through stump mics, and yet the authorities do nothing, but sit back and let it pass.
Sport, by itself is interesting enough, and the spirit in which it is played defines whether we focus on the sport itself or other issues. Ban sledging; I have no doubts that cricket will still be fun. We won't be talking about who called whose wife names, but we will be talking about the time that a batsman thrashed the crap out of a bowler or vice-versa. And if you want psychological warfare, just go back to the days of the Windies fast bowling greats and look at that one terrifying raised eyebrow. That's proof enough that personal trash about a sportsman is not the only way to pysche him out.
Read Ted Corbett's fabulous article here.

Go, India, go!
Reactions:
As I write this, we've got Australia on the floor at 77 for 5 with a run rate barely crawling up to 3. C'mon India, chak de and all that, kick their butt!
Ok, prediction time: Aus 216 for 7.
India: 190 all out.
Pray this doesn't come true!!!

Monica Seles: A bubbling career pierced with a knife
Reactions:
I was never a big fan of Seles, what with her grunting and all. Admittedly, I was quite young then and unimportant things influenced my opinion. But this beautiful article by Christopher Clarey of IHT really puts her career and the tragic incident that effectively ended it in perspective. Ironically, years after she stopped playing serious tennis, she has found a new fan in me. Good luck, Monica. The kind you didn't have when you were playing.

CultureSense
Reactions:
My CultureSensetm is tingling. Irfan Pathan wished people a Happy Valentine's Day. He wants lots of roses. Things are going to get broken. Random people, beware of injuries to your constitutions. How dare that cultureless matchwinner! Why did he have to hurt my veryverysensitive feelings? My CultureSensetm is already having visions of an IOC poster with his picture being blackened by similarly culture-conscious friends. Deserves those guys right, to be in such huge losses. What do they expect after having such an uncultured brand ambassador? Why don't people follow the Handbook of Culturally Correct Things to Do and Say? It's simple enough - shut up and do nothing. We will make him apologise, wait and watch.
Meanwhile, my CultureSensetm continues to tingle...

Sorry's not the hardest word
Reactions:
In recent days, the Australian and Chinese governments have issued apologies. Even the LTTE is known to have apologised for Rajiv Gandhi's death.
When was the last time you think / know that the Indian government did any such thing? Hmm... interesting thought.

But seriously, I'm sure forced attrition has always existed, why should incompetence be nurtured and paid?

B****day blues
Reactions:
Unnnngggh... Another one. Closer to my breathing stopping forever. Farther from the best days of my life. No more gay abandon of childhood, no more wild zest of youth, no more pampering by mother, no more summer holidays from school. No more 'teens', no more heavy metal all day, no more clandestine band practice, no more table tennis-cricket in the house and no more splashing in gum boots in the rain. No more crying to go to school, no more getting away with mischief by making cute faces.
A lot more of other, promising stuff. But no more of these.
Happy birthday, me.

MNS - Why like this?
Reactions:
Since every product needs to have a USP, like same way it is for political parties. What option did poor Raj have?
- Saffron/Hindutva agenda - Already owned by BJP-Shiv Sena combine (apart from VHP and others).
- Minority friendliness - Core competence of Congress
- Jailed peoples applying for political ticket - taken by many UP-ites and even Gawli in Raj's own home state. Blasted bloodies.
Things looking bleak. But wait. Not so fast. Differentiation is there.
Maharashtra is still politically viable groupism. That's why only he is doing like this, men.
It's like all fighting to get their hands in a pile of tatti. And he's now hurling littil bit at all of us. Soon to be hitting fan. Cheers.

"North Indians break the law"
Reactions:
That's not my opinion, in case you're wondering, but phrases like that have been flying around in the media the past couple of days. Well, I don't know about North Indians, but I think that Indians in general have a law breaking habit. Horror of horrors, Maharashtrians included.
Take the simplest of examples: our traffic lights. The law is broken from the beginning to the end of that process. Right from the beginning, where you have to pay an 'agency' for getting your driver's license, to the 'stop' line being violated by almost everyone, to being pressured into breaking the signal by the huge truck behind you when there are still 15 seconds to go. And how many of our generously-paunched traffic cop 'mamas' are North Indian? Haven't met a single one in Pune, and most of them are involved in bribery at various levels, are they not?
Having been born and raised in Pune, Maharashtra for the most part of my life, I consider myself a Maharastrian. I can vouch for the fact that we Maharashtrians are no better when it comes to this kind of behaviour. We have crime as well. Don't murders, rapes, robberies happen in Maharashtra? Are all of those carried out by North Indians?
Don't believe such divisive and overarching generalisations, rather let's look within ourselves and stop rowdyism and petty ways to make news.

The perfect match!
Reactions:
Well, wasn't the second one-dayer between India and Sri Lanka just perfect? An honorable batting performance from us and no pressure for a result. Guess the only thing missing was a Tendulkar ton, and we would have been pleased as punch! :)
What to do now, nothing to look forward to till Sunday. :(
