India Uncut

Just read Amit Varma's article on Abdul Kalam and the limitations that people put on dreams.

It's a little hypocritical to say that Kalam should not be dreaming about space exploration. By that standard, India should not have ever engineered satellites, never have spent on the golden quadrilateral (people are dying, why do we need roads? Feed the hungry!), never have done anything apart from trying to feed the booming poor.

There is more than dimension to economic development; all of these need to co-exist. Just that some people dream a little less than others, and I guess that's why not everyone's president.
